Project:

This project is the expansion of WordNet in Simplified Chinese. Things related to this research are as follows:
  1. Based on principles of WordNet English-English dictionary, which was developed by the Cognitive Science Laboratory at Princeton University, Chinese WordNet will have the function of English-English search as well.

  2. Chinese WordNet has brought in approximate 118,000 Chinese words and 115,400 synsets to fulfill the Chinese-Chinese function in the short term. It will also have the functions of Synonyms, Coordinate Terms, Hypernyms and others that English-English dictionary has.

  3. We are constructing Chinese WordNet in some special areas,such as Computer Science,Telecom Science,Quarantine testing and so on.Moreover,it has been applied at the first stage in the vertical analyse engine based on the ontology.

  4. Chinese WordNet will support on-line search.

  5. Chinese Wordnet was completed on July.18th, 2008.

  6. Chinese WordNet is OPEN, not only the software, but also the code, to anyone who is interested in this domain.

  7. This research is cooperated by Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Southeast University(http://cse.seu.edu.cn/) and Department of Computer Science at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam(http://www.cs.vu.nl/).
